The Njallani cardamom has a tint of citrusy taste and a milder flavour in comparison to other indigenous cultivars. This farmer bred variety was developed by Sebastian Joseph Njallani, a farmer in the cardamom hills. Found to be a high yielding variety, it was further promoted and used by many farmers. However, this variety is less pest resistant compared to the low yielding indigenous ones and it was after years of experiments that our farmers learned it to grow chemical free by using zero budget natural farming methods and microbial controls.
